Here's the story behind the train:

Jay Houston has been putting his expert carpentry skills to use for some years now building train toy boxes. A labor of love, each meticulously crafted piece is made entirely of cherry and maple wood; and from planing to staining, takes him nearly three months to complete.

When his wife Donna was diagnosed with cancer in 2017, the couple became actively involved with the UMass Medical School Cancer Walk & Run. Returning last year—with Donna as a survivor—they connected with our CEO, Rich Kump, and Team UMassFive, while we were being honored as the top Business Fundraising Team. Wanting to do more to support cancer research, Jay generously offered to raffle off one of his toy boxes to UMassFive members.

We are proud to support Jay in conjunction with our fundraising efforts leading up to this year’s UMass Cancer Walk & Run.
