A huge thanks to the UMass Amherst Football Team for taking time out of their busy schedules to build the beds and help make our "A Bed for Every Child" campaign such a success! The team built 30 twin beds during an afternoon of community involvement during their summer training camp.
Check out the video below to see all the hard work put in by these individuals earlier this week.
A Bed for Every Child was launched in 2012 when a public-school teacher asked for help to get beds for her students. What she was witnessing was the same as hundreds of other teachers across our state teaching in communities, students coming to school tired and unfocused because they were lacking one of life’s most important physical and mental factors: healthy sleep. A Bed for Every Child provides beds for children living in poverty without one of their own. For every $250 raised a child receives a twin bedframe, mattress, pillow, and linens. Since its inception, the program has delivered more than 7,000 beds.
Today, A Bed for Every Child, receives over 200 requests statewide per month, of children in need of a bed of their own. To meet the need A Bed for Every Child created the Build a Bed project where sponsored teams can organize and come together to build and paint twin beds for the program.
