UMassFive College Federal Credit Union (UMassFive) responded to the generosity of its members (account holders) by holding a raffle of local gift bags during December. Winners were randomly selected from members who chose to redeem their Buzz Points debit card rewards for cash donations to local charitable organizations in 2020. The prizes were eight beautifully curated local gift bags that were purchased as part of a fundraiser for Community Involved in Sustaining Agriculture (CISA).
UMassFive members earn Buzz Points when using their debit cards, and can redeem those points for gift cards, rebates, or as cash donations to local charitable donations. UMassFive supports the Buzz Points program because it encourages shopping locally by providing extra rewards when shoppers make purchases at local establishments, and because it allows members a chance to give back to organizations that matter to them. In 2020, members redeemed their Buzz Points for over $7,200 in donations that were spread across 11 local non-profit organizations.
UMassFive is a proud supporter of CISA, and saw the opportunity to support the organization’s fundraiser and give back to members as a perfect fit. CISA partnered with Clarkdale Fruit Farms and Atlas Farm to sell the gift bags, filled with locally grown and produced goods, during this holiday season. “Showing our support for the organizations that do great things in our communities is very important to us,” UMassFive Community Outreach Manager Cait Murray said. “To be able to give back to some of our generous members at the same time is wonderful.”
