UMassFive College Credit Union and the UMass University Museum of Contemporary Art (UMCA) will be hosting an Artist Talk & Reception as artist Christin Couture presents her work. This event will take place at the UMassFive Hadley Branch location at 200 Westgate Center Drive on Wednesday January 22, from 5:30 - 7:00 P.M.
A piece of Couture's work, entitled, The Nearest Faraway Place, is currently on display at UMassFive’s Hadley Branch. This painting is about more than a shadowy woodland and rushing river water. For nearly 15 years Couture has been painting the same view from her house with its innumerable changes through the hours of the day and seasons of the year. These paintings on wood panels use the technique called encaustic and combine beeswax, candelilla wax, oil pigment, acrylics, and colored pencils.
Join UMassFive to meet and learn about this artist, and watch her present her piece. Complimentary refreshments and hors d'oeuvres will be available as part of the evening’s festivities.
