It was another award-winning year for the UMassFive employee fundraising team, which raises money each year to benefit the UMass Cancer Center through the UMass Cancer Walk & Run.

Team UMassFive raised over $24,000 in 2018, a team record, making us the second highest fundraising team overall for the event. The money was raised by employees, both through individual efforts and through reaching out to our members in each branch. Efforts included food sales, craft and art sales, and raffles—all put together by our creative staff.
Team UMassFive was also named the winner of the “Central MA Business Challenge,” an initiative encouraging local businesses to start employee fundraising teams. More than 45 businesses signed on for the challenge this year, and collectively the teams raised a total of $105,000. As the top fundraising team in the challenge, Team UMassFive earned a large trophy, which we intend to display in each branch office during 2019 as a way of reminding our members what a difference your generosity makes!
Funds raised through the UMass Cancer Walk & Run benefit the UMass Cancer Center and help support cancer research, clinical trials, and patient care in Central Massachusetts. Team UMassFive has consistently been one of the top three fundraising teams in recent years, meaning that the money we raise represents a significant portion of the funds raised overall through this important event. We thank our membership for its continued support in helping our community and world become a better place.
