Newsletter 2019 V3 Article - CISA

Sponsor Group Spotlight:

CISA logoCISA is a non-profit organization that works to strengthen farms and to involve the community in building the local food economy. Their “Be a Local Hero” bumper stickers and labels are a familiar sight in the Valley, and the campaign has also attracted national attention as it is the longest-running agricultural buy local campaign in the country. We are proud to partner with such a great initiative, and welcome community members of CISA as eligible members of UMassFive.

Be a Local Hero StickerWith 2019 marking their 26th year of operation, CISA still works as hard as ever to ensure that Valley farmers can sell fresh, locally grown food to more people within their communities every day.

Acting as a resource for over 250 local farm members, CISA provides these smaller businesses with essential services such as financial planning and marketing. All of this programming is sustained by CISA community memberships that start as low as $35 annually, and ensure that you are personally making a difference in the local farm economy. Becoming a community member of CISA also earns you a few special perks, like discounts on CISA merchandise, an invitation to CISA’s annual meeting to keep you in the loop on local farm news, and automatic UMassFive eligibility!

Interested in eating local? Be on the lookout for CISA’s upcoming Fall Harvest Celebration (September 19, 6–9 p.m. at Valley View Farm, Haydenville) or stop in for some great stories as their storytelling event Field Notes returns by popular demand (November 24, 2–4 p.m. at the Academy of Music Theatre, Northampton).
